ECRE and the Dutch Council for Refugees published today a note based on desk research addressing the question of whether Turkey can be considered as a safe third country and a first country of asylum in light of the legal safeguards under international refugee law, the EU asylum acquis and the factual situation in Turkey for those in need of international protection.
